Mrs. Vijaya is a street vendor who has been operating a small food business for several years to support her family. Despite facing financial difficulties and limited business resources, she continued her livelihood with determination. Her irregular income made it difficult to meet household expenses and expand her business.
Through the livelihood support programme implemented by Native Medicare Charitable Trust (NMCT), she received a branded pushcart, utensils, and business development support. She also participated in Joint Liability Group (JLG) meetings, financial literacy sessions, and received guidance on savings and business management. In addition, she was supported in opening a bank account to improve her financial inclusion.
The assistance helped her improve the quality and presentation of her business, attract more customers, and increase her daily income. With improved earnings, she is now able to better support her family's needs, save regularly, and manage her business more confidently.
Impact
Improved livelihood through a better-equipped and branded pushcart; increased customer reach and daily income; enhanced financial inclusion through a bank account; improved confidence, financial management, and family well-being; and greater economic stability with a more sustainable livelihood.
