Our story

From a research trust to a development organisation

Native Medicare Charitable Trust was established on 13 September 1988 under the Indian Trust Act of 1882.

Initially conceived as a research-driven organization, NMCT quickly transitioned into a development-focused entity, harnessing the support of government agencies, philanthropic foundations, and corporate partnerships to drive meaningful change.

With a strong commitment to addressing systemic inequalities, NMCT strategically aligns its initiatives with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring a holistic and far-reaching impact.

NMCT's diverse interventions span critical areas such as Health, Education, Livelihood, Empowerment, Environmental Sustainability, Disaster Mitigation, and Peace & Public Cooperation, with a dedicated focus on uplifting the most vulnerable populations, including underprivileged children, women, migrant workers, tribal communities, and individuals living with HIV/AIDS.

Vision & mission

What we are working towards

Vision

Sustainable holistic development among the underserved

Mission

Capacity building, promotion and support service towards achieving socio-economic empowerment

  1. 01Reach the most vulnerable: underprivileged children, women, migrant workers, tribal communities, and people living with HIV/AIDS.
  2. 02Build the capacity of community-based organisations so that change outlasts any single programme.
  3. 03Align every intervention with the Sustainable Development Goals.
  4. 04Work in partnership with government agencies, philanthropic foundations and corporate CSR rather than in isolation.

How we work

Core values & approach

Four commitments that shape how every NMCT programme is designed and delivered.

Partnership-led delivery

Programmes are built with government agencies, philanthropic foundations and corporate CSR partners, harnessing their support to drive change at a scale no single organisation reaches alone.

Aligned to the SDGs

Initiatives are strategically aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, so local work contributes to a holistic and far-reaching agenda rather than a set of disconnected projects.

The most vulnerable first

A dedicated focus on underprivileged children, women, migrant workers, tribal communities, and individuals living with HIV/AIDS, the groups systemic inequality reaches last.
