“I doubled my income, and my confidence”
By Thangamani, Paniya community
A mini poultry unit, four goats and training under the NABARD Tribal Development Fund, and what came of them.
I am Thangamani, a 35-year-old woman from the Paniya tribal community, and I once depended on unstable daily wage labour, earning barely ₹4,000–₹5,000 per month.
My life changed when I received livelihood support from Native Medicare Charitable Trust (NMCT) under the NABARD Tribal Development Fund (TDF) Project, which provided me with a mini poultry unit, four goats, and training. Through egg production, livestock rearing, and selling organic manure, I was able to double my income and secure my livelihood.
This opportunity strengthened my confidence and helped me take independent decisions for my family’s future. Today, I proudly inspire other tribal women by proving that the right support can transform lives and create lasting dignity.
