TI Migrants Project, Coimbatore

HIV/AIDS and STI awareness, counselling, testing and referral for migrant workers, at their workplaces and homes, across 12 blocks of Coimbatore district.

The Targeted Intervention (TI) programme works with migrant workers, many of whom have little awareness of HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Outreach workers meet migrants at their workplaces and where they live, with information and services for HIV/AIDS and STI prevention.

The project takes a community-based outreach approach: identifying migrants at risk, educating and counselling them, and linking them with the right healthcare and government services. The work includes outreach and awareness sessions, counselling, events, condom promotion and demonstration, screening camps for HIV, STIs, TB and Hepatitis B and C, testing, referral and follow-up.

April to August 2026

  • 38 new industries identified and 4,057 migrant beneficiaries registered.

  • 1,052 group meetings reaching 19,294 migrants, 2,315 counselling sessions and 50 drop-in centre visits.
