I had the privilege of completing my internship at NMCT as a Social Work Trainee, an experience that significantly contributed to both my academic learning and professional development. During this period, I had the opportunity to work on two major initiatives – the Walkaroo CSR Project and the Bosch Project. These projects not only gave me exposure to the functioning of CSR activities but also helped me understand the role of social work in facilitating sustainable development at the community level. One of the most valuable experiences was my involvement in conducting surveys in tribal areas. This gave me an opportunity to directly interact with marginalized communities, understand their socio-economic conditions, and identify their challenges and needs. It helped me build confidence in community engagement, data collection, and analysis, while also shaping my perspective on the importance of evidence-based planning in social work practice. I also gained knowledge in project proposal writing, where I learned how to translate the identified needs of the community into structured plans for action. Working with the Walkaroo Project during its initial stages was a particularly enriching experience, as it allowed me to observe and participate in the foundation-building process of a CSR initiative – from planning, consultation, and resource mapping, to the beginning phases of implementation. Similarly, my exposure to the Bosch Project helped me understand how corporate partnerships can bring impactful change when aligned with community needs. Through this internship, I was able to bridge the gap between classroom learning and field practice. It enhanced my skills in project planning, community interaction, documentation, and teamwork. More importantly, it instilled in me a deeper sense of responsibility as a budding social worker, making me more aware of the importance of collaboration, empathy, and professionalism in serving communities. I am deeply grateful to NMCT and its dedicated team for their constant guidance, support, and encouragement throughout my internship. The learning and experiences I gained here will remain a strong foundation for my future journey in the field of social work.
